Wanda Hudgins

Wanda Hudgins, age 71, left this world for her heavenly home on July 25th, 2024, in Cleveland, Tennessee, while surrounded by her beloved family.

Wanda was born and raised in Gantts Quarry, Alabama and made Sylacauga her home for the duration of her adult life. She worked for the marble industries in Sylacauga for more than fifty years, where her unwavering dedication was evident. She was a proud graduate of B.B. Comer Memorial High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie (Zeke) Ellison and Agnes Lovett Ellison. She is survived by her children: Shelley Brooks of Sylacauga, Alabama and Bobby Brooks (Diona) of Cleveland, Tennessee, Sister: Teresa Wright (Allen) of Sylacauga, Alabama, Grandchildren: Morgan Brooks Greene (Jordan) of Niota, Tennessee, Abby Brooks of Sylacauga, Alabama, Krystyn Floyd of Talladega, Alabama, Justyn Truex (Alyssa) of Childersburg, Alabama, Ryan Truex of Cleveland, Tennessee, Great Grandchildren: Addison Goins, Tanner Adkins, Bryce Truex, and Nephews: Matt Wright (Lisa) and Paul Wright (Kara), and several cousins.

Wanda had a big heart and an enthusiastic sense of humor. She was a devoted and giving individual, who constantly put the needs of others before her own. Her generosity and affection for her friends and family will live on in her memory forever.

When the time came, after years of suffering, she radiated courage, dignity, and love for everyone. Her absence will be felt deeply.

A celebration of life for Wanda will be held later with details to be determined.

Donations may be made to the Sylacauga Animal Shelter, 41 Shelter Lane, Sylacauga, Alabama 35151 in her honor. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Amedisys Hospice of Chattanooga for their excellent care, specifically Amanda, Karen, and Brannon.
