Wanda Hood

Wanda Sue Hood, 63, passed away at home in Cleveland, TN, on March 22, 2025. Born on February 16, 1962, in Tarpon Springs, FL, she lived life on her terms-tough, independent, and deeply connected to the outdoors.

Wanda was a survivor. Life didn't make things easy for her, but she met every challenge head-on with a stubborn strength that refused to break. She was not one for soft words, but she had a fierce spirit. She loved her family, her flowers, the night sky, the crackle of a campfire, a cold beer, and the people who truly got to know her. She found peace in the mountains, and had a love for camping under the stars, staying up late to watch meteor showers, and working with her hands in the dirt.

She believed in hard work. She didn't hand out affection easily, but she left behind wisdom and resilience for those who knew how to find it. One of the most important lessons she passed down was simple but meaningful: always leave a place better than you found it. Her son, Joshua, carries that lesson forward in her honor.

Wanda is survived by her partner of 19 years, Carolyn Hall; her son, Joshua Hood, and stepsons Wayne Rogers, Chris Rogers; grandchildren Jeriah Hood, Eden Hood; her sister, Judy Narmore; her brothers, David Hood, Darryl Hood, Dewayne Hood; and many others whose lives she touched in her own way. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Hood.

A public viewing to honor Wanda's life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN.

For those who knew her, let her memory be a reminder to stand strong, live on your own terms, and, when you can, leave something-somewhere-a little better than you found it.
