Wanda Duke

Wanda T Duke, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on 10/22/2023. Born and raised in Chattanooga, she graduated in 1955 from Central High School. She married Edward Duke in 1962. She spent most of her career in furniture sales at Jernigan's Furniture and Carpets of Dalton. She had exquisite taste in decor and was trusted by numerous clients as evidenced by multi-year awards for her outstanding sales. She was beautiful inside and out, had a very loving heart, and her incredible cakes and pies were legendary. A thoughtful people pleaser, she would willingly bring up to 3-4 extraordinarily prepared desserts to a holiday dinner just to fulfill the requests of as many family members as possible.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Duke, father and mother, Mattie Thompson, brothers - William A., Ray, CarmenJames "Jabbo" Thompson and sister, Katherine Patterson; nieces Darlene and Terri Thompson.

She is survived by her nephews Tommy (Laura) Thompson, Rick (Susie) Thompson, Randy (Cherie) Thompson, niece Joy (Mark) Reynolds, great nieces Angela Clark, Shelby Thompson and Eleanor (Daniel) Weaver, and great great nephew Noah Clark, along with cousins Chico Vandergriff and Dorothy Thomas.

Many thanks to the excellent care she received at Summit View and Solomon House along with the staff of Hearth Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hearth Hospice. Memorial service will be November18th at 11 AM in the Chapel of Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Highway 153. Funeral co-arranged by Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
