W. P. "Jack" Mcclure

Obituary
W. P. “Jack” McClure, 85, a lifelong resident of Cleveland went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 from a Chattanooga health care facility. Jack was born here on June 27th, 1927 a son of the late Martin L. and Naomi B. McClure. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. Jack was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War II. Jack had a passion for tractors and farm equipment. He worked for a number of years at Collins Chair and then later retired from the Bradley County School Board where he worked in the maintenance department. Jack loved raccoon, deer and hog hunting. He especially enjoyed telling a good “coon story” and teaching young hunters the art of hunting.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by seven sisters Minnie Hicks, Opal Grissom, Lucille Johnson, Bessie Stewart, Anna Mae Ogle, Rosell Bowman and Joy Lones, six brothers Austin McClure, Alpha Burton McClure, O.A. “Ollie” McClure, Leon McClure, Llyod McClure and Marvin McClure.
Jack leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of nearly sixty four years Virginia Epperson McClure, one daughter Benita Walsh and her husband Terry, two sons Douglas McClure and wife Charlotte and Jerry “A.J.” McClure-the prodigal son, one sister Elizabeth Nipper, four grandchildren Whitney Walsh (Angela), Colby Walsh, Pam Riley (Pat) and Anthony McClure, three great grandchildren Alex & Colin Riley and Kaylynn Walsh who brought smiles to his face when he heard her voice. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service is planned for Friday, June 28th, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Cedar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend James Vaughn officiating. Pallbearers will be Whitney Walsh, Colby Walsh, Colin Riley, Alex Riley, David Nipper and Ben Nipper. The service will conclude with full military honors.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28th, 2013 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of Cedar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery located at 723 Cedar Springs Church Road in Cleveland, TN.
