Virginia "Virgie" Emmie Pevehouse, born March 21, 1930, a longtime resident of

McDonald, TN, passed away on Sunday evening, October 27, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob R. Pevehouse of McDonald, TN and ex-husband, George A. DeFur, father of her children; her son, James A. DeFur of Cleveland, daughter-in-law, Janice DeFur Chambers, her parents: Eway and Sarah "Sallie" Bowman of Birchwood, her sons-in- law: Lester Graham of Middletown, Ohio and Jeff L. Carman of Cleveland, TN.

She was also preceded in death by several brothers, sisters and their spouses: Luther (Corabell) Bowman, Lesley (Lorene) Bowman, James (Mildred) Bowman, Eway Bowman Jr, Tommy (Ruby) Bowman, Henry Bowman, Ruby (Gabby) Allison, Emma (Arthel) McClure, deceased sister-in-law Evelyn Davis Bowman and Bob's sister, Glenda Pevehouse Ellis, deceased brothers-in law: Paul Bettis, Jessie Melton, Arlena "Bud" Pevehouse and wife Bonnie, Sam Pevehouse, Dean Pevehouse and wife Judy; fathers and mothers-in-law, James Knox Pevehouse and Leona Evans Pevehouse; Jim DeFur and Alice DeFur Crowe.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jerrie DeFur Graham, Middletown, OH and Joyce H. Carman, Cleveland TN; her two remaining sisters, Margie Bettis and Lula Ford; sister-in-law, Molly (Henry/deceased) Bowman; grandchildren Jeffrey DeFur, Joshua, TX, Tracie DeFur Peters, Wagner, SD, Alex DeFur, Dayton TN, Verena Robinson, Burnside, KY, Sheryl Wooten (husband Pearl), Tony Graham, Charlette Prosperi (husband Ross), Middletown, OH, Wendy Graham, Cleveland, TN, Bobette Nelson, Norfolk, VA, Vanessa Clemons (husband Jamie), Chattanooga, TN and Jennifer Hewitt, Cleveland, TN.

Virginia was blessed with eleven grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, thirty-three great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren.

Virginia was an avid gardener, seamstress and quilter. She was employed with American Uniform and J H Kellman for several years. She and her late husband Bob enjoyed numerous road trips, especially visiting the Grand Canyon. She also enjoyed traveling with her granddaughter Tracey with trips to Australia, Alaska and even enjoying a ride in a hot air balloon. She had also visited Hawaii with her daughter Joyce and Jeff (her late son-in-law).

A very special thanks to:

• the wonderful and loving staff of caregivers at Charter Assisted Living, Cleveland, TN, her home for the past four years. Shortly after becoming a resident, Virginia gave her heart to Jesus, returning to the faith of her youth, enjoying church services, gospel singing and prayer time. The family, while saddened, is rejoicing in the assurance of seeing her again in heaven. What a day of rejoicing that will be!

The family viewing will be on Wednesday, October 30th from 10 am to 11 am at the Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Rose NW, Cleveland, TN. The eulogy will be provided by Dr H.E. Cardin, Hearth Hospice Chaplin. Interment will follow, traveling to the Delano Cemetery, Delano, TN, as Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband Bob.
