Obituary
Verona Grace Pierce, 92, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013, surrounded by her family at Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland, Tennessee.

She was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey on June 12, 1921, and was known for most of her life to family and friends as “Ronnie”.

In her early years she worked as a telephone operator and owned her own taxi service before beginning her long career as a cook in the Pemberton Township school system for over 30 years, and a girl’s supervisor in a juvenile detention center for 20 years.

Her kind and caring nature lead to her devoting her lifetime to helping anyone in need, and she proved to be a positive influence on almost everyone she met. She was well loved and respected by her community. After moving to Tennessee in 2001 she became a charter member of the Cleveland Community Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Issac and Dora Pierce, her sisters Edith, Hazel, and Betty, and by her husband Joseph W. Pierce, and her daughter Sandra Lucille.

Survivors include her sister Marie and brother Calvin, sons John Pierce and wife Pauline of Oregon, Joseph Pierce and wife Susan of California, daughter Elizabeth Kalabus and spouse John of Tennessee, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 26th at 7 PM at Cleveland Community Chapel, 1823 Forest Ridge Dr., Cleveland, TN. A meal will be provided at 6 PM. Remains will be interred in the General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in New Egypt, NJ on a later date.
