Velma Smith

Velma Lou Smith, 87, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Velma was born on July 17, 1936 in Sweetwater, Tennessee to the late Rev. Thomas Franks and Melvina Pardue. She was of the Baptist and a dedicated member of Lebanon Valley Baptist Church.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Smith; daughter in law, Sherian Smith; son in law, Steve Roberson; her siblings, Dennis Franks, Zetta Ownby, and Inez Franks.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Bobby Smith, and Bebo Smith; daughters, Mary Ann Roberson, and Betsy (Miles) Pritchett; sister in laws, Dot Franks and Dotsy Keller; grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Leah (Scott) Davis, Micha (Adam Cash) Crumley, Neal (Casie) Roberson, Lindsay (Josh) Doss, Ryan Roberson, Danielle (David) Sims, and Angie (Tom) Logan; 17 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland. A graveside service will be held after the visitation at 2:30 pm at Blue Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Smith, and Pastor Rick Cresswell officiating. Austin Geren, Alan Keller, Tony Owynbey, Dennis Franks Jr., Neil Roberson, Ryan Roberson, Tim Owynbey, and Scott Davis will be serving as pallbearers.
