Thomas “Tom” Sydnor went to meet his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Hospice of Chattanooga with loved ones by his side.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1956, in Roanoke, Va., the son of Beverly Payne and Ann Gay Sydnor. He lived in Cleveland most of his life and worked in the Circulation Department of the Cleveland Daily Banner more than 30 years. He also lived in Crewe, Va., and worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by two sons: Jimmy and wife, Amber of Newport, Ore., Joey Sydnor of Cleveland; three granddaughters: Bella, Arianna and Maelynn; three sisters: Linda of Murfreesboro, Susan Bergman and husband, Jack, of Pikeville, N.C., and Kim Sydnor of Atlanta, Ga.; niece, Julie Smith and husband, Phillip of Pikeville, N.C.; nephew, Joey Bergman and wife, Liz, of Dover, Del.; grand-nephew, Phillip Smith; grand-niece, Hailee Smith; several cousins in Virginia and North Carolina; and his sweet puppy, Bell.
Tom was a lovable and sensitive soul, devoted to his family and friends. He was an avid golf fan and player. He loved fishing with his family at the Outer Banks, N.C. He loved collecting sail ships, diecast cars and trucks. He also loved his beloved Bell.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Companion Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10 a.m.
