Obituary
Thomas Jefferson (Tommy) Kimsey, 80, of Spring City, TN passed from this life on Friday night, March 1st, 2013.
He was born to George R. and Vesta Henson Kimsey October 3rd, 1932 in Cumberland Gap, TN.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Debra Lynn Kimsey, two sisters Cora Lee Kimsey and Grace Evelyn “Bunny” LeGrande.
He is survived by children Sue (Dan) Birchett of Dayton, TN, Jennifer Garrison of Cleveland, TN, T.J. Kimsey II of Dayton, TN, the mother of his children Doris Kimsey of Dayton, TN, one brother Richard (Ellen) Kimsey of Rockwood, TN, favorite nephew Wayne (Susana) Morgan of Dayton, TN, seven grandchildren Rachelle (Chris) Adams, Larissa Roberts, Matthew Revis, Ben (Amy) Revis, Clint (Cayci) Garrison, Brett Garrison and Lance Garrison. Tommy is also survived by several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
He was an avid Bluegrass fan and musician, playing several instruments, especially his favorite standup bass at various festivals and events. One favorite was the Dunlap Coke Oven Bluegrass Festival where his name is inscribed on the Bluegrass Musician Monument.
He was the owner of the “Red Barn Jamboree” in Dayton in the late 60s and was in the Bluegrass band “The Back Trackers” who performed at the 1996 Olympic Games in Ocoee, TN.
There will be no funeral services; however, a Bluegrass music memorial celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
