Thomas E. Dye

Thomas E. Dye, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 30, 2022. Originally from Weirton, WV, he resided in Cleveland, TN for the last 52 years and was the loving husband of Jerry Dye for 63 years. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University. After working for Weirton Steel in West Virginia and Ingersoll Steel in New Castle, Indiana he moved his family to Cleveland where he was employed by Olin Corporation in Charleston, TN until his retirement in 1999. After which he enjoyed traveling, camping, telling jokes, Bluegrass music, fishing, yard work, singing with the First United Methodist Church choir and playing in the FUMC String Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Treva Dye; two sisters, Lila and Nita, and his loving wife, Jerry Dalrymple Dye.

He is survived by his sister, Avis Wilson of Fort Mill, SC; brother-in-law, Doug (Rebecca) Dalrymple of Jasper, TN; daughters; Leslie Hill, Jill Rybak and Lara (Todd) Davidson, all of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren: Jake (Piper) Hill, Adam Hill, Brynn Rybak, Tucker Rybak, Kyle (Daven) Davidson, Kara Davidson; and six great-grandchildren.

As his daughters, we recognize what a blessing and privilege it was to call him Daddy.

A service celebrating Tom’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 3425 N. Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312.
