Thomas Cavitt

May 29, 1956 — January 9, 2024

Thomas Eugene 'Gene' Cavitt was born on May 29, 1956 in Chattanooga, TN. He went home with Jesus on January 9, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends at home at 67 years old.

Gene's hobbies over the years included golfing with long time friend John Johnny Farrow, riding his motorcycle, and being a dog dad to his boy Riley. He was best known as 'Caveman' to his friends who shared the love for riding motorcycles like he did. Gene influenced another good friend, Gene Coppinger, into buying a motorcycle because he was so passionate about riding. You would never catch Gene without a smile on his face, lending a helping hand to someone in need, or just trying to make someone's day better. Gene was a devout husband, dad, and papaw. He adored his great granddaughter Emma 'Peanut' and never let anyone forget how proud he was of her every single day. Gene loved being a member of Living Faith Church of Hixson, TN. He took pride in being not only a member of the church, but helping 'beautify' and serving in the church every week. As his pastor would say 'you could eat off the parking lot because Gene kept that parking lot so clean."

He was preceded in death by his mamaw, Ida Bell; papaw, Robert Oliver, mother, Edna Cavitt; father, Robert Cavitt; father-in-law, WJ Dilbeck; half brother, Kenneth Lee; sister-in-law, Maxine Eisenhower; half brother, Harold Cavitt; mother-in-law, Minnie Dilbeck; great granddaughter, Everlie Ball; brother, Ben 'Benny' Cavitt, and sister-in-law, Linda Cavitt.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah 'Debbie' Cavitt; brother, Ray Cavitt; sister, Brenda [Mike] Cavitt; daughter, Melinda [Jim] Pickett; daughter, Cheryl [Joseph] Geddie; daughter, Heather [Bobby] Delay; grandson, Steven Harris; grandson, Raven Ball; grandson, Wesley 'Wes' [Kayla] Boyd; grandson, Luke [Emily] Boyd; granddaughter, Carrie [Andrew] Smith; granddaughter, Meagan [Jaden] Flynn; granddaughter, Peyton Delay, great granddaughter, Emma Smith; great grandson, Braylyn Ball; great grandson, Cayvan Ball; great granddaughter, Lilly Flynn; great granddaughter, Ryann Boyd and many nieces, nephews, family members, and close friends that have surrounded him by love over the years.

We will gather for a Celebration of Life for Gene at Living Faith Church of Hixson, TN on January 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
