Obituary
Thomas Casteel Edington, 80, of Ooltewah, TN passed away on Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 20, 1933 in Knoxville, TN to the late Charles and Olivia Edington.
He was a lifelong resident of this area. He pastored several churches for 36 years in the East Tennessee area. He retired from Southern Technologies and he also worked at Lockheed and Chris Craft as a machinist.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Rena M. Edington; two sons: Jim Edington (Kristi) and David Edington and girlfriend, Michelle; daughter Debbie Roddy (David); four grandchildren: Daniel, Christopher, and Jamie Edington and Lindsay Lee Brown; great grandchildren: Kinley, Jackson, Mason, and Tatiana, brothers and sisters-in-law M.L. & Peggy Newberry, Geneva Beatty, Mary Newberry, Bobby Newberry and Raymond Newberry. In addition to these, he leaves behind several extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday September 19, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church in Ooltewah, TN with Rev. Donnie Holder and Rev. David Flood will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 11:00am-2:00pm. Interment will follow the service at Ooltewah Cemetery. Steve Walton, David Edington, Mike Brown, Christopher Edington, Daniel Edington, and Jason Morrison will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Edington, David Roddy, and Chris Goforth.
Memorial contributions are to be made to Amedysis Hospice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Diana, Erin and Angela, who took care of Thomas.
