Thomas Beard

Beard, Thomas Franklin. Born February 24, 1929 in Garfield, Kentucky, Breckenridge Co. to Thomas Miller. and Anna Lee Sandbach Beard. The attending physician was his grandfather, John Sandbach. He graduated from Breckenridge County High School and Western Kentucky University. He sensed a call upon his life to serve God and to prepare for that service he entered and graduated from The Southern Baptist Seminary. He married his college sweetheart, Doris Sullivan, and together they were led to minister to a new Baptist congregation in California. They returned to Kentucky after 10 years and accepted the challenge of teaching in an elementary school and adult education. Thomas and Doris retired from the Jefferson County School System in 1992.

Their marriage produced three children: Hugh Michael, LuAnn, and Netta Lee. After a long battle with diabetes, Doris died in 2005 and Netta died as results of an auto accident in Orlando, Fl. in 2008. Surviving also are his granddaughters, Betsy Fredrick and Lori Hagar; great-grand children: Jacob and Eden Fredrick, and Milo Hagar; and brothers, George and Robert. In 2008, Mr. Beard married Billie Sue Easley, who survives him.

A memorial service for Thomas Beard will be at Bethany Baptist Church, 2319 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, KY at 1:00 PM, on March 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Missions Fund or Re:Center Ministries.
