Therese Luise "Rite" Walker

Therese Luise “Rita” Walker, 91, of Charleston, TN passed away on October 24, 2017. She was born on February 21, 1926 in Nuremburg, Germany. Rita was a young teen living in Germany during World War II, where she met Carl Lane, who would later be her husband and the man who would bring her to the United States in 1947. Rita was an incredibly hard worker who was dedicated to her family. She worked at M&M Mars most recently, but worked in furniture manufacturing for the majority of her life. When she was able, Rita loved to travel.
Rita is preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Carl Lane; son James Lane; daughter Rosemary Lane Woodall; and three sisters Mary Muench of Eltnan Bavaria, Emmi and Lissy.
Rita leaves behind her sister, Frieda Hopkins (George) of Greensboro, NC; son in law James “Jim” Woodall; Jim’s children Jason Woodall and Jamie Woodall Norman and their children, and many nieces, nephew and other extended Lane family members. Also surviving is her second husband Vance Walker and his three children Walter Vance Walker II; Vickie Walker both of Cleveland and Jeanne Walker of Dalton, GA.
The family will receive friends on Sunday October 29, 2017 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 3:00pm with Pastor Stan Gibson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Candies Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
