Thelma Dixon Kaylor Carey, 87, a lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away on Sunday morning September 30, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Thelma was born in Cleveland on September 10, 1925 a daughter of the late Columbus and Mittie Dixon. Thelma was of the Baptist faith and a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church. Some of her hobbies included gardening and working with her flowers. Thelma was a loving mother and homemaker. She was awarded the “Ambassador” award during her stay at Morningside of Cleveland for the way she help those around her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant son James Farris Kaylor, one sister Agnes Kile, two brothers Tom Dixon and Virgil Dixon, one grandson Douglas Ray Kaylor and a son-in-law Don Edwards.
Thelma leaves here to cherish her memory one daughter Brenda Edwards, four sons Glenn Kaylor ( Sun Cha), Clyde Kaylor (Wilma), David Kaylor, and Johnny Kaylor (Donna), three sisters Dorothy Brackett (Hubert), Sue Vaughn, and Alma Crye. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Samples Memorial Baptist Church located at 371 Samples Chapel Road SE, Cleveland, TN 37323 with the Reverend Mark Cameron and the Reverend Lee Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday night, October 1, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
