Terry Douglas Seymour Sr., 71, of Athens, TN passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was a son of the late Woodie and Joyce Torbett Seymour. Terry was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. He worked as a builder, but was proudest of the family that he built. Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, watching U.T. Vols sports and watching his grandchildren show horses. He was an avid coon hunter and showed walking and racking horses for many years. Terry leaves behind a legacy for the love of horses for generations to come. His grandson, Hunter Sisson took him for his final ride just a few short weeks before his passing.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ollie & Addie Casteel Torbett and Thomas & Elizabeth Seymour, father and mother in law Paul & Anna Slack, stepsister Debbie Thomas and son in law Rock Sisson.
Terry leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 54 years Cathy Seymour, three children and their spouses Taleitha (James) Billingsley, Misti (Chris) Ghorley and T.J. (Sherry) Seymour, ten grandchildren Lacey (Marco) McKeehan, Richard Smith, Nicholas Smith, Adam Smith, Jordan Smith, Noelle (Cody) Mobley, Hunter (Brooklyn) Sisson, Bryston Goodman, Ariel Goodman and Kaynen Goodman, ten great grandchildren Baileigh Sloan, Hunter McKeehan, Jayla Smith, Keyara Smith, De’Ante Smith, Heavenlee Smith, Azriel Smith, Carson Smith, Waylon Mobley and Weston Sisson, sister Bonita Hammond, stepsister Susie Brooks, stepbrother Tommy Quinn, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Wildwood Cemetery. To honor his memory, grandchildren will lead the funeral procession on horseback. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
