Terry Burgess

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Terry Mitchell Burgess, who left us on December 16, 2024, at the age of 68. Terry was born on January 16, 1956, and remained a beloved resident of his hometown of Decatur, Tennessee throughout his life.

Terry was the cherished son of the late Charles R. Burgess and Jearl D. Burgess of Decatur.

He is survived by his loving sister, Pamela G. Bates, who cherished their close bond. Terry was also a dear uncle to Nicholas L. Trueblood of Decatur, TN, and Charles M. Bates of Chattanooga, TN. His love and guidance extended to his grand-niece, Vayah Horton of Chattanooga, TN, who brought joy to his life. He was predeceased by his nephew, James L. Bates.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Terry served his country with honor and dedication. His military service and contributions to his community will always be remembered.

Terry will be cremated, and his life will be celebrated in a private ceremony.

Terry will be remembered for his kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and dedication to his loved ones will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Terry. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
