Teresa L Cartledge Williams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed from this world on Sunday, April 16, 2017, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant battle against cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and JoAnn Cartledge and an infant son.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 45 years, Charles Williams; daughters, Valerie Williams Craig and Stacie Williams; grandchildren, Eli and Ember Craig; sister,Cynthia Lauren Rodgers; brothers, Clinton and Andy Cartledge; nephews and nieces; mother-in-law, Mary Williams; brothers-in-law, Mike, Mark, and Mitch Williams, their wives and children; sister-in-law, Joy Michelle Greene, her husband and children; and numerous friends.
Terri was born and raised in the Atlanta metro area and developed a love for poetry, literature, and music during her formative years. Her greatest delight was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her delicious meals and artistic flair, whether in decorating or gardening.
After moving to Cleveland 30+ years ago for her husband’s career, Terri worked in various industries before finding a home in the nonprofit world. While volunteering in the adult literacy program, OAR, Terri was drafted to become the Student-Tutor Coordinator, a position she held for 10 years. While at OAR, Terri made friendships that have endured. She then moved to the Caring Place ministry as Volunteer Manager for two years before retiring to volunteer occasionally with that organization.
A member of First Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Terri was always anxious to participate in the life of the congregation whether in Vacation Bible School, helping with meals, or on a committee. Her light truly shined before men. She always proclaimed herself a Christian first and a Lutheran second.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Cleveland Tennessee. The memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Robert Seaton immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. at the church. A private interment will follow after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to The Caring Place in Cleveland TN.
