Ted Raymond Greene

Ted Raymond Greene, 79, a lifelong resident of McMinn County passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 3, 2022 at his home in Riceville surrounded by his family. He was born in Athens, TN on November 30, 1942 a son of the late Luther & Virgie Greene. Ted was a member of the Riceville Church of Christ. He loved NASCAR, cheering on the UT Vols, fishing at the lake, watching hummingbirds, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by seven siblings Lawrence, Charles, Luther Jr. “June”, Harold, Sherman, Ray and Roy Lee “Tom”.
Ted leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years Helen Thornton Greene, two daughters Teresia Elder and Tammy Crittenden and her husband Wes, one brother James “Jim” Greene, one sister Jean Atchley, four grandchildren Tyler Crittenden (Nikki), Ashley Crittenden, Elizabeth King (Jacob) and Baleigh Ezell, seven great grandchildren Kayleigh, Tiani, Landon, Addi, Hadleigh, Maleah and Reecelyn, numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN.
A graveside service is planned for Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 3:00 PM in the Spring Creek Church of Christ Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Thornton officiating. Pallbearers will be Craig McKinney, Mark McKinney, Brandon Tooley, Brett Mashburn, Dusty Thomas and Collins Maxwell.
