Taylor Gates

Taylor Ray Gates, 77, passed away on March 9, 2025. He was born to Donald and Edna Gates on February 13, 1948 in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Taylor is a retired Boy Scout Master Troop 45 from 1965, retired firefighter in Bradley County, and retired from Maytag after 45 years. He loved camping, fishing, caring for his family, operating a bulldozer, and gardening. He loved to sit on the porch and watch nature around him with his daughter, trains, and loved the Lord. Taylor enjoyed to take rides to the Mennonite community and the apple orchards.

In addition to his mother, Taylor is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gates, brother, Richard Keith, nephew, Rodney Keith, and in-laws, Cyrus and Clemmy Buckner.

He is survived by his children, Roxanna (David) Sanford, Jason (Lacy) Gates, grandchildren, Matthew and Sierra Sanford, father, Donald Gates, sister, Betty (Lyge) Rymer, uncle, Taylor (Mac) Gamble, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland at 7:00 pm with Pastor Samuel White officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Pine Hill Church Cemetery at 11:00 am.
