Tami Traczek

August 14, 1963 — October 6, 2024

Tami Dunaway Traczek, aged 61, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 06, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a life dedicated to caring for others. Born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, Tami was the beloved daughter of Speck and Ruth Dunaway, both of whom preceded her in death. Her father Speck, whom she idolized, passed away 11 years ago, leaving an unfillable hole in her heart, while her mother Ruth, who passed 3 years ago, gifted her with a relentless work ethic, a talent for cooking, and a flair for entertaining. They instilled in her a strong faith at an early age and a commitment to the Episcopal Church; she loved St. Lukes Church in Cleveland.

Tami was a cheerleader, spreading her infectious energy and joy everywhere she went. It was this same passion for uplifting others that led her to pursue a career in nursing. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and for over 30 years, she served as a compassionate and skilled nurse at various institutions including Erlanger Hospital, as a home health nurse, and later at Life Care Center of Cleveland. She was a fearless survivor of breast cancer and was committed to supporting others experiencing the same hardship. Her care and dedication didn't end in life; she continued her legacy of giving as an organ donor, helping others even in her final moments.

Tami is survived by her loving husband, Dan Traczek. Together, they shared a life filled with adventure, from trips around the country, to the beach, and visits with Dan's family in Ohio. Whether swimming in their pool, taking care of their beloved dogs and cats (especially Bella and Ozzie), or cheering on their favorite college football teams - the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Vols - the two were inseparable. They shared a bond of laughter, playful teasing, cooking, and good music, which defined their loving marriage.

A devoted mother, Tami is survived by her two sons, Tyler Goza (Wesley Pettiford) and Seth Goza. Some of her most cherished memories were of traveling to watch her boys play soccer, where she loudly and proudly cheered them on from the stands. Many lifelong friendships blossomed from those days spent with the soccer families, who became more like extended family to her. Tami loved her boys.

Tami is also survived by her sister, Karen Mullins, who shared a close bond with her. Tami adored Karen's late husband, Gary Mullins, who passed away 11 years ago. Karen's sons, Curt and Michael Mullins, will remember their Aunt Tami for her hilarious stories and the unique way she could brighten up any room with her infectious laughter and charm.

Her lifelong friend, Angel Thompson Perry, will deeply miss her as they grew up together, sharing countless memories that only the closest of friends could.

Tami leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service to others. Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts as a shining example of kindness, dedication, and joy. The world is better for having had her in it, and though her loss is immeasurable, her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at St. Luke's Church in Cleveland, Tennessee at 11:30 AM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 19.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the MaryEllen Locher Foundation to honor Tami. For more information about the MaryEllen Locher Foundation, contact:
