Shirley Upton

Shirley Rula Upton, 87, passed away on November 26, 2024.

In her later years, Shirley loved relaxing and watching TV. She had a few shows she kept up with and really enjoyed that time. Above everything, Shirley was a caregiver. She adored children and loved caring for them.

Preceded in death by her parents, Gus Sr. and Linnie Upton; husband Archie Upton, Sr.; daughters Judy Kelly and Diane McCowan; siblings, Taylor Wells, Leola Upton, Gus Upton Jr., Walter Upton, and Dallas Upton; and grandson, Terence McCowan.

Survivors include her sister, Connie Nichols; daughter, Joann (Timothy) Kirk; son, Archie Upton; grandchildren, Cassie Benton, Tasha McSpadden, Alexandria Kelly, Marnell McCowan, Jacob Kelly, Daniel Kelly, and Serrita Kirk; great grandchildren, Taylor Kelly, Destiny Benton, JaVay Huntington-Kirk, Quincy Smith, Zoe McCowan, Malik McCowan, Zendaya McCowan, Zadia McCowan, and Amorrah Kirk

The family will have a Memorial Service at 3:00pm on December 7, 2024 at Companion Funeral Home of Athens, TN.
