Shirley Delorise Shadden, 85, entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
She was the daughter of Glenn and Blanche Teague, and sister to two brothers, Wayne Teague and Homer Teague. She was raised in the Eureka community and worked as a young woman alongside her family on the Jess Eldridge farm. Her strong work ethic was developed during her years working on the farm.
She graduated from Bradley High School in 1958. Two years later in July 1960, she married her husband John Thomas "J-T" Shadden. Together they raised two sons, Jeff Thomas and Brent Alan Shadden. In 1990, they welcomed their first grandson, Logan Andrew Shadden and in 1999, Luke Thomas Shadden.
Shirley worked hard for many years in the manufacturing industry. She worked for Duplan, 16 years then moved to Maytag, or Magic Chef as it was known then, retiring after 27 years of service.
After retirement, she went back to her farming roots by working part time at the Bradley County Farmers Market. She was a fixture there, always looking so pretty and willing to help her customers with a smile. She had many customers and friends who came to rely on her to hand select good produce for them. She would also give them advice on canning or sharing a special recipe.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Blanche Teague, and her older brother, Wayne Teague. Her beloved husband, John Thomas "J-T" Shadden and her precious grandson, Luke Thomas Shadden.
She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Shadden (Robin), Brent Shadden and her grandson, Logan Shadden, younger brother, Homer Teague (Su Pai). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family wishes to thank her special friend and companion, Claude Climer, for never leaving her side. Also, the support of his loving family.
Shirley did not have a biological sister, but her longtime friend, Penny Burns Lewis, was affectionately referred to as her sister.
The family also wishes to thank the staff at Bradley Rehabilitation and the Hearth Hospice for the care and compassion shown to her and her family during her brief illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made to the North Cleveland Baptist Church in her memory.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the North Cleveland Baptist Church with a service celebrating her life to follow that night at 6:00 PM conducted by Dr. Jay McCluskey and the Reverend Keith Watson.
The interment and committal service will take place the following morning on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Candies Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Jeff Shadden, Brent Shadden, Logan Shadden, Jon Lovingood, John Burns and Jason Reuter serving as casket bearers.
