Shirley Hickman

Shirley Hickman, age 77, resident of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Starr Regional Medical Center in Etowah. Shirley was born on March 16, 1947 in Athens, Tennessee to Curl Parker and Martha Morrow.

Shirley had retired from Shaw Industries in 2015 after 39.5 years. After that, she was blessed to be able to care for her three grandsons. Shirley was a member of Five Points Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert Cass Hickman of Decatur, daughter, LeAnn Smith and her husband, John Smith of Athens, sisters, Juanita (Sterling) Womac of Calhoun, TN, Mildred Swafford of Huntsville, AL, Linda Sue (Larry) Holder of Ooltewah, TN and Clara Faye Hicks of Durham, NC, three grandsons, Roen, Nolen, and Ryden Smith, and many special nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Alma Lyle and Eula Ann Sheppard, four brothers, James Frances Morrow, Willard Dean Morrow, George Arnold Morrow, and Robert Franklin Morrow, 7 half-brothers and half-sisters, Vinie Bell Morrow Crittenden, Estelle (Blondie) Morrow, Grady Lee Morrow, Leona Morrow Nichlos, James Nelson Morrow, Curl Parker Morrow Jr., and Charles (Cotton) Lester Morrow.

The memorial service will be on Thursday evening, September 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home in Athens. Friends and Family are welcome to come at 5:30 p.m. to visit with one another and view a slide show.
