Shirley Griffin, 83, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away peacefully November 14th surrounded by her loved ones and entered her heavenly home with Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Leonard and Sarah Grace Finnell. Shirley is survived by her daughters Kim Shay (Mike) and Chalea Terry (Kevin); grandchildren, Mallori Bovee (Jon), Coleton Terry (Kate-Fiance), and Darbi Shay (Matthew-boyfriend); great-grandchildren Everett Bovee and Henry Bovee; brother Terry Finnell (Carolyn); nephews Whitney Finnell and Tyler Finnell; and many friends and neighbors. Shirley never met a stranger and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved baking pies and bread, and sharing them with those around her. Shirley also enjoyed creating flower arrangements and working in her garden. When she wasn't putting her green thumb to good use, Shirley enjoyed the challenge of good puzzle with her BFF. But Shirley's greatest passion was her family and spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren. Following her graduation from Bradley Central High School, Shirley spent the next 50 years working in Human Resources for Burlington Industries and Eaton Corporation. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed attending church when she was physically able. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held December 7 th at 11 a.m. at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce. The family is thankful for the compassionate care Shirley received from the staff at Bradley Medical Center. In honor of Shirley's life, the family suggests making gifts in her name to St. Jude's Research Hospital, the Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center or the Grayson Foundation in Cleveland.
