Shirley Farmer

July 27, 1948 — August 30, 2024

Shirley Louise Farmer, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on August 30th 2024, surrounded by her loving siblings after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Kingston, Tennessee, Shirley was the cherished daughter of Mary Helen Cross of Cleveland TN. Shirley was preceded in death by her father Hugh Curtis Britt of Kingston TN; her brother, Mayford "Steamy" Houser of Cleveland; her stepfather Daniel Eugene Cross and her precious mother Mary Helen Cross both of Cleveland TN

Shirley spent many years living in California before returning to her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee, to be closer to family. Shirley was a dedicated employee at Walmart, where her warm smile and friendly nature touched many lives.

Shirley was of Pentecostal faith and a faithful member of her church community. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Farmer (Cleveland, TN); her siblings, Charles Britt (Cleveland), Ruby Cantrell (Cleveland), Mary Lena Horvath (Cleveland), and George Ed Britt (Bridgeport Washington); and her beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Moore (Cleveland). Shirley also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will fondly remember her for her love of family and her kind spirit. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

The family will receive friends Tuesday September 3, 2024 from 11a.m. - 1 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN, with a Celebration of Life immediately following. There will be a private graveside service for the family.

Pallbearers include Victor Gregory, Nick Gregory, Dustin Sherlin, Samuel Gregory and Dustin Hicks
