Shelba Jean McClendon Moore

Shelba Jean McClendon Moore left this world peacefully at the age of 84 on Thursday, October 19, 2023. She will forever be remembered as a woman of boundless love and faith in God.

Jean was born on March 11, 1939, and was preceded in death by her parents, Blutcher and Frankie McClendon. She lost her beloved husband George (Bud) Moore to cancer on June 10, 2022, and thus began a journey of grief from which she never recovered. Bud and Jean's 65-year marriage was a testament of unconditional love and commitment to all who knew them.

Mom's primary joy in life was family, and her unwavering love and support were the cornerstones of our lives. Her role as a mother extended to all who knew her, as her outgoing personality endeared her to a wide circle of cherished friends.

Jean leaves behind four children: Cindy (Kent) Maxson, Paula (Kelly) Moore, George (Kara) Moore, and Brian (Amy) Moore. She is survived by her brothers Ray (Jean) and Bud (Sherry) McClendon, and her beloved sister Donna Wilcox, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Her sixteen adoring grandchildren will forever miss their precious Nanny, and she welcomed ten great-grandchildren in recent years.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who have provided support during this difficult time, especially Jean's precious sister-in-law Linda Moore and the staff and residents of Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Hixson, TN.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hearth Hospice of Chattanooga, whose dedicated staff worked tirelessly to ensure our mother spent her remaining days in the comfort of their compassionate and loving care.

Memorial and Celebration of Life services for both Bud and Jean Moore will be held on November 19, 2023. Let us gather to remember, to share stories, and to honor the legacy of the life they shared.
