Shayne Walker

Shayne Edward Walker, of Athens, passed away unexpectedly and far too soon on Monday, September 18, 2023. He was 47 years old.

Shayne was born December 15, 1975 in Cleveland, TN. He spent his life in McMinn County. Though he didn't have a formal or traditional career, if it had a motor-he could drive it, run it or fix it. His intelligence and ingenuity with engines were unmatched, having learned most of his skills from his father Don Walker and his brothers. He knew heavy equipment and cars like the back of his hand. And if you ever needed a car part or anything at all, Shayne knew someone who had it or could get it with a trade. He knew every backroad, side road, holler and cow pasture in McMinn County. He loved fast cars, slow days, his son and grandchildren, good music and time with friends and family. We cannot tell you how much he will be missed.

Shayne is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Ersie Walker, two nephews, David "Toby" Moses and Terry "Tiny" Bonds, maternal uncles Howard and Charles Blankenship and aunt Rosie Miller, paternal uncles, Tommy and Richard Walker, and aunts Evelyn Dye and Mildred Veal, a sister-in-law that was a sister, Karen Walker and a very good friend, Alan Crowe.

Left to remember and miss him are his son, Tylan "Tater" Walker, his grandchildren Grayson Bentley and Omryann Keziah, and his girlfriend Crystal Moses. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters and their spouses; Jan Bohannon and Stan, Pat Walker and Whitney, Ginger Moses and Randall, Fred Walker, Scott Walker and April, and Tylan's mom, Connie Walker and several nieces and nephews.

While there will be no formal visitation, the family plans to have a graveside service at Hardshell House of Prayer and Cemetery on October 7 at 2 p.m.
