RV Herd, 88, of Cleveland, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 13, 2022. He was born in Baxter, TN, though he lived in Tampa and Cleveland for much of his adult life. RV was a beloved father, husband, brother, friend, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He prayerfully lived his life for his family and for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
RV could be described as wise, slow to speak, and quietly thoughtful. He was an avid sports fan - his favorites being golf and baseball. RV coached both Little League and Senior League teams for several years, winning many championships. He was a talented musician and songwriter, owning the copyrights to seven original Christian songs. He was an accountant by trade and a realtor and broker on the side. He was loved for his sense of humor and his unwavering care for his family. RV Herd was a good man.
He is preceded in death by Leah Miller Herd (first wife), Baxter Herd (father), Millie Herd (mother), Eva Herd (sister), Elene Herd (sister), Roy Herd (brother), and Aaron Herd (brother). He is survived by Corbit Herd (brother), O’Neil Herd (brother), Nadine Herd (wife), Cheryl Bothe (daughter), Sandra Barringer (daughter), Robin Herd (son), Sheila Elwin Loga (step-daughter), Debbie Law (step-daughter), seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of RV’s life will be held at 1pm on Friday October 7th at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel in Cleveland, TN. You are invited to share a personal memory of RV or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com.
