Ruby Darkess Vance Mckee

On Sunday August 18th, 2019 our dear sweet precious mother Ruby Darkess Vance McKee, 98 years old, born March 26, 1921 took her Savior’s hand and He led her into Heaven for her eternal home to remain forever with Him.
Ruby was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Cookson Creek Church in Reliance. Her hobbies included fishing and camping. She loved to sew and make quilts. She also loved to do embroidery before she lost her eyesight. She enjoyed working in her flowers but she was happiest when she was cooking meals and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Henderson McKee, sons; Bobby Henderson McKee and Melvin Junior McKee, Father and Mother Joseph Houston and Eliza Nichols Vance; Grandsons, Ronnie McKee and Johnnie McKee, as well as 9 brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children; Barbara Long, Nancy Barker, Larry McKee, Charles McKee (Margie), Daniel McKee, Margaret McKee and Ramona Goins (Mitchell), sister; Berlin Wattenbarger, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family of Ruby would like to thank all of her angels on earth that aided in her care at Tennova Home Health and Caris Hospice of Chattanooga nurses and CNA’s. Also Family Home Health Care of Athens. Sitter Karen Davis and also her special friends Ruby DeFriese and Thelma Liner whom she dearly loved.
The Celebration of Ruby’s life will be held Tuesday evening August 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Rd. NW, Cleveland, TN 37312 at 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service from 5:00-7:00. Burial will be held the next day at 12:00 noon at Lakeside Baptist Church in Madisonville TN. The procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 am Wednesday morning.
