Roy Thomas Huskey

Roy Thomas Huskey, 79, of Cleveland, TN passed away on June 17, 2017. He was born on February 5, 1938 to the late Charlie and Clara Shannon Huskey. Roy was a member of Waterville Baptist Church, where he was always ready for Sunday School Class. He was also a part of the Young at Heart Seniors Group and a member of the Security Team. From a very young age, Roy was very hard working. He started working at Earl’s Sandwich Shop at the age of 14 and continued working at Lon’s Sandwich Shop through high school and he graduated from Bradley High School in 1957. Following graduation, Roy worked for 37 years at Dixie Products which was later known as Magic Chef and then Maytag. Roy also worked with Cody Construction for a year and retired from the Bradley County Trustee’s Office on September 9, 2016 with over 22 years of Service. Roy was also a member the Oak Grove Ruritan Club since 1972. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golf, traveling, and camping-especially in the Smoky Mountains.
In addition to his mother and father, Roy is preceded in death by his sister Pauline Huskey; mother and father in law Ernest Vaughn and Ethel Murphy Vaughn. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Ernestine Vaughn Huskey; daughter Pam Huskey Simmons (Bobby) of Harrison, TN; son Tommy Huskey (Cheryl) of Cleveland, TN; granddaughter Jenni Simmons; great granddaughter Rhylee Simmons; sister LaVada Huskey Fulton (Larry) of Cleveland, TN; brother Richard Huskey (Caroline) of Marietta, GA; brother Dewey Huskey (Janice) of Raleigh, NC; sister in law Shirley Vaughn Huntsinger of Cleveland, TN. In addition to these, Roy leaves behind numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 20, 2017 at Waterville Baptist Church from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at Waterville Baptist with Pastor Joe Brooks officiating. Interment will follow the service at Tasso United Methodist Cemetery. David Scoggins, David Swallows, Tim Akins, Bufie Horton, Maynard Branham, Avery Johnson, Larry Hasty will serve as pallbearers along with honorary pallbearer Mike Smith.
