Roy M. Emery Sr., 85, of Charleston, TN went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. He passed away at home, peacefully, and in the arms of his daughter Elizabeth and grand-daughter Nicole. He was born in Marine City, Michigan on November 2, 1936, to the late Pete and Marion Emery. He resided in Michigan until 1948, Arizona until 1981, Colorado until 2020, and then Tennessee. Roy (Buck) accepted God at the age of 12 in Marine City, Michigan at the local church he attended and became a Catholic for the last 45 years of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1954 to 1957 and was stationed in Japan for 2 years. He had many jobs, including loading box cars, working on a horse ranch, and making rocket engine parts for the space program, which he did to help pay his tuition at Arizona State University to get his degree. Following that, he went to work for General Motors and retired after 30 years at the age of 56. He loved guns, knives, casting bullets, reloading ammunition, cowboy silhouette shooting, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, reading, watching his favorite TV programs like NCIS, listening to old records, old Westerns and Mysteries on the radio, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family. His favorite color was green, he loved A&W Root Beer, French vanilla ice cream, grits, honey, Dave’s homemade cheeseburgers, and Limburger Cheese. He had phrases that anyone who knew him heard a lot such as: “Not bad for a one-eyed old man from a small town” and “honest answer”. He loved life like no one else I have ever known. He was positive, gracious, compassionate, caring, funny, honest, inspiring, respected, kind, sincere, genuine, the real deal, unique, and humble. To have known him, been loved by him, been part of his life, or have been able to call him your friend, you knew you were truly blessed and better off for it. He made you feel like you mattered even when no one else did, even yourself. His is preceded in death by his father Pete Emery, mother Marion Dexter, sister Nellie Gardiner (Norman Sr. and nephew Norman Jr.), brother John Emery (Jean), wife Lupe, and many other family members and friends. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving daughter Elizabeth Knoll (David), granddaughter Nicole Conway (George), great grandchildren Annie and Grady Conway, his only living Cousin Bob Hansen (Neva), and other family members and thousands of friends. He touched thousands of lives and hearts through his 85 years and saved hundreds. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and I will forever love and miss my daddy, my best friend, and my example of how to live life to the fullest.
