Obituary
Roy Alan Hampton, 55, a resident of Cleveland went home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday evening January 1, 2012. Alan enjoyed life and loved his family and friends. His happiest times in life were spent on the river bank fishing. He also enjoyed nature and loved to plant a garden and grow vegetables which he loved to share with neighbors and friends.
He worked for many years as an auto body technician and mechanic. He loved working on cars and anyone who knew him knew he was a FORD man.
Roy was a son of the late Frank & Mary Hampton and is also preceded in death by his first born son Alan Hampton II, one brother Bobby Kerr, and a nephew Mark Hampton.
He leaves behind a son Brad Hampton and Glenda (nugget), two grandchildren Brandon and Alexis Hampton, two brother James “Jimmy” Hampton (Bonnie), Frank “Eddie” Hampton (Debbie), two sisters Vicki Hampton and Robin Rogers (Chris) , several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his stepmother Mary Jo Hampton, step father Alford Pope, step brother Robert Anderson, special loved ones Josh, Jason, and Libby Floyd, and a special friend Pam Gosselin.
A memorial service will be held at New Salem Baptist Church on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 6:00 PM located at 175 Ladd Springs Road SE, Cleveland, TN 37323 with the Reverend A. C. Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in memory of Alan to help offset his medical bills. They can be sent to The Alan Hampton Medical Expense Fund at 2470 Rodney Drive SE, Cleveland, TN 37323.
