Ronnie Kenneth Thompson, born January 12, 1955, in Lafayette, GA, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023, in Chattanooga, TN. Known as a man with a lively spirit, a sharp wit, and an infectious sense of humor, Ronnie was a beacon of laughter and strength to everyone in his life.


For many years, Ronnie was a dedicated industrial machine mechanic and maintenance worker in the manufacturing sector. With a reputation for his hard-working nature, he utilized his skills to ensure the smooth operation of machinery. No task was ever too great or small, and his commitment to his work was exemplary.


Despite his hard-working nature, Ronnie never failed to enjoy the lighter side of life and was known to be an animated and engaging storyteller. His anecdotes often revolved around his passion for motorcycles, his skill of moonshine brewing, and events from the various festivals he loved attending. His interest did not stop there, coin collecting was another pastime he relished in and always found joy in his growing collection.


Surviving Ronnie are his three daughters, Jessica West (Kenny), Laura Staten, and Susan Rowland, his brother, Ray Thompson and his wife Charlene Thompson, his sister Evelyn Henry, and his brother, Michael Thompson. He also leaves behind a substantial family lineage that includes his grandchildren - Kailey Rowland, Michelle Rowland, Alex Rowland, Mason Shirley, Tucker Harrod, Kayla West, Kyle West, Brittany Graft, and Bryant Hastings. In addition to his immediate family, Ronnie is survived by his beloved niece, Lisa Henry Hughes, and nephew, Jerry Henry.


Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Devenar Wallin and Coy Thompson. Laughter-filled memories of a caring brother, a dedicated father, and a loving grandfather will continue to live on among the hearts of Ronnie's extensive family. Ronnie’s memory will forever be cherished in the tales he shared with his family and friends and in the laughter that he brought with him everywhere.


Ronnie’s family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm on Sunday August 6th at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 3pm following visitation. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Wright, Keith Rowland, Tucker Harrod, Kyle West, and Jerry Henry.
