Ronald Gordon Murphy, 77, a well-known Realtor in the Cleveland area, passed away on October 17, 2023, in Leesburg, Florida. Born April 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Judge Earle G. Murphy and Norma Murphy.
Ron was a 1964 graduate of Bradley Central High School where he played football and golf. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. In 1969 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree at MTSU where he was a charter member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
He was a teacher and football coach at Cleveland Jr. High and Cleveland High School until 1977 when he decided to pursue a career in real estate. He was a successful real estate agent and broker until he retired in 2008. Ron proudly served as MLS Director and then President of River Counties Association of Realtors in 2000, and he was named RCAR Realtor of the Year in 2002. He had many clients who became lifelong friends. Ron and Phyllis moved to The Villages, Florida, in 2017 to enjoy their retirement.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 42 years Phyllis Murphy, and 3 loving children, son Christopher Murphy (Kelley) of Franklin, TN; daughter Monica Dodd (Michael Wright) of Bremen, GA; and son Marshall Ryan Murphy (Kaye) of Dalton, GA. He will be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren, Caila Murphy, Andrew Murphy, Chase Powell, Garrett Wright, and Ryan Dodd; and two sisters, Elaine Donoho (Bill) of Gallatin, TN and Donna Ratcliff of Cleveland, two sisters-in-law Carolyn Davis and Donna Harris, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 11 at First United Methodist Church located at 3425 North Ocoee St. in Cleveland, TN. Visitation will be 2 hours before the services from 12:00 until 2:00 at the church. Pastor Curt McKee will officiate the service.
