Obituary
Ronald Leroy Pyke was born in Battle Creek Michigan, April 28, 1925 to Albert Leroy and Nellie Van Allen Pyke as the first son born of six children. He passed to his rest while sleeping at home the morning of August 13 attended by his family.
He passed on in the sure and blessed hope of the soon return of Jesus on the resurrection morning. He was attended and visited during his illness with the loving care of his wife Marilyn Pyke, their children Jan Nash, Gary, Tom, and Bill, as well as his ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. (Rhonda, their daughter, predeceased him.)
He hiked the entire Appalachian Trail beginning at age 70 and completing the 2,160-mile hike at age 82. His life was an example in so many ways to family and friends of what Jesus was like.
Memorial Services are to be conducted at the Cohutta Georgia SDA Church where he has been a member and served as a deacon. A meal will be served in the fellowship hall for family (and out of area guests) following the service.
Services are scheduled for Sabbath afternoon at 3:00, August 24, 2013.
