On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, Ronald Smith, entered his eternal home in heaven at the age of 77. He passed away in the home he shared with his wife of over 53 years. His passing, from this world into his glorious home in heaven, occurred just as he had always envisioned; hand in hand with his wife.
Ronny, as most people knew him, had a passion for Jesus Christ. He could hardly fathom how God loved him so much despite his flaws. His admiration for God can best be described by this verse of his favorite song. “Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found.”
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, and traveling. He had superior map skills and wasn’t afraid to use them! Don’t even dare tell him to pull over for directions!
His love for his 6 grandchildren showed in numerous ways. He rode shotgun as he allowed his grandchildren to drive his car for their 1st driving lesson. He introduced them to coke and french fries. He counted their ribs while squeezing them as tight as he could.
If you would like to pay your respects to this amazing man that my 3 siblings and I called dad, please join us for a graveside service at Sullins Cemetery in Athens, Tennessee. The service is Sunday, August 23, 2020 @ 4:00.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Ronny and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home is honored to assist his family with these arrangements.
