Rodger Dale Ray, a beloved resident of Niota, Tennessee, passed away on June 25, 2023, at his residence in Niota. He was 71 years old. Rodger was born on May 1, 1952, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, to Earl and Emma Ray (Blankenship).


Rodger was a dedicated cattle rancher, specializing in polled Herefords. He was an active member of both the East Tennessee and National Polled Herefords Association. Before his career as a rancher, Rodger worked as an autobody repairman and ran his own service shop. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature.


Rodger is survived by his loving wife, Lorna Ray, his son Rodney (Donna) Ray, his daughter Teresa (Shane) White, his siblings Todd Ray and Jodi (Lori) Ray, as well as his cherished grandchildren Lexie Labonte, Lorelei White, Lucas White, Jordan Turner, and Ryan Ray. He was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Avery Kimborough.


Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Emma Ray, and his brother John Ray.


The family has chosen to hold a private memorial to celebrate Rodger's life at a later date. The arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service in Athens, Tennessee.


The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to parkinson.org in the fight against Parkinson's Disease.


During this difficult time, may Rodger Dale Ray's family and friends find solace in their memories and the love and support of one another. May he rest in peace.
