Obituary
Robert Zvolerin, age 71, peacefully passed away at home November 3, 2011. He was born in Windber, PA to the late John and Katherine Zvolerin. He is also preceded in death by one brother Tom Zvolerin, one sister Kathy Zvolerin, as well as brothers-in-law, Michael Sesack and Charles Haddad.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cam, their daughter, Katy, their son, Matt and his wife Jenny, and granddaughters, Spencer and Hayden Poe, as well as sisters, Irene Sesack, Martha Haddad, Betty (Richard) Heaton, Lillian (Andy) Kalmanir, in laws: Lou Rentfro, Jack Rentfro, and Jeff Rentfro, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob played football for the Tennessee Vols in 1962 and 1963. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins professional team after graduation, but chose to enter the Officer Candidate School of the U. S. Marine Corps instead. He played football on the Marine Corps team out of Quantico, Virginia, and then served his country in Vietnam, where he received the Navy Commendation Medal for his valor as an air traffic controller during the Tet Offensive in January of 1968. He left the military with the rank of Captain, and entered the master’s program at East Tennessee State University. After graduation he stayed as a teacher and football coach at the university. Following his move to Cleveland he taught and coached first at Cleveland High School and then at Bradley Central High School for 36 years, retiring as an assistant principal. Bob has owned and operated Trophies Unlimited in Cleveland for the past 30 years.
Bob was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and a true friend to his fishing and hunting buddies.
Visitation will be at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 200 Church Street NE, Cleveland Tennessee, on Thursday, November 10, from 4-7 PM, with a memorial service conducted by the Reverend Cliff Hudson to follow. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity or the charity of your choice.
