Robert Ramey

November 12, 1936 — September 19, 2023

Robert Luther Ramey "Chalk Eye" lifelong resident of Birchwood, TN. Passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023, at his home. Mr. Ramey was born in Layfette, Georgia. He was the son of the late Luther Ramey and Myrtle Frye Ramey. Robert was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Gamble Road Baptist Church. He was a carpenter by trade and built houses for over 60 years. Robert was well known in the community as "Chalk" or "Chalk Eye" by his friends.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, of 60 years, Juanita Ramey; brothers, Gene Ramey, Bill Ramey; sisters, Polly Hout, Peggy Patty, Barbara Marshall, and Joe Ramey; and his 7 great great Grandchildren.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 10 years, June Bettis Ramey; 7 daughters, Vickie Gann, Debbie (Ronnie) Exum, Carolyn (T.J.) Bowman, Betty (Sam) Brown, Lisa (Doug) Christopher, Pamela Swafford and Robbie Bandy; step daughters, Debbie Triplett, and Mandy Triplett; his step son, Keith (Stephanie) Bettis; 21 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Gamble Road Baptist Church.

A Celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Gamble Road Baptist Church with pastor Josh Cornelius officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Holder Cemetery with Joseph Gann, B.J. Millsaps, Jason Millsaps, Eric Millsaps, Samuel Brown, Tommy Bowman, Matthew Bandy, Jonathan Bowman, and Charlie Exum serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Keith Bettis, Hunter Taylor, Bean Millsaps, and John Luter.
