Robert Lee Lovingood

Robert Lee Lovingood, 83, a lifelong resident of Athens, TN passed away on Friday morning, May 18, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 2, 1935 in Athens a son of the late Gordan & Arminda Lovingood. Robert was a member of the First Church of God of Englewood. He was retired from Athens Stove Works. Robert enjoyed spending time farming.
He is preceded in death by one daughter Rhonda Lovingood, parents Gordan & Armanda Lovingood, five sisters and two brothers.
Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 57 years Wilma Haney Lovingood, daughter Barbara Shirk and husband Ross, son Tracey Lovingood and wife Gelinia, five grandchildren Danny Moats, Misty Cataline, Brandy Shirk, Tiffany Lovingood and Tanner Lovingood, five great grandchildren C.J. Duncan, Dalea Lovingood, Isiah Moats, Anthony Edwards and Bentley Boggess, one sister Lily Franks, one brother Andrew Lovingood (Margret), numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday night, May 20, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN with the Reverend Joe Clark and the Reverend Scott Lovingood officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the First Church of God of Englewood building fund in Robert’s memory.
The interment and committal service will take place on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the McMinn Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
