Obituary

Robert Glenn Gibson Jr., 72, of Cleveland, TN passed away on October 22, 2014. He was born on January 5, 1942 to the late Robert and Nellie Gibson. Robert was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and of the Baptist Faith. He was an avid car enthusiast, which spilled over into his work as an auto dealer. He also loved spending time racing with his sons. Robert also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. He was a loving, caring, and generous person who wouldn’t miss an opportunity to help anyone in need. Above all things, he loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother: Mike Gibson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 54 years Shirley Gibson; five children: Greg Gibson (Lisa), Debbie Crumbley (Bobby), Angie Cate (Tommy), Brian Gibson (Dana), Tim Gibson (Alisha); four siblings: Wayne Gibson (Judy), Bobbie Swiger (Steve), Lee Gibson (Kathy), Steve Gibson (Debbie); eleven grandchildren: Jennifer Hall (Josh), Sara Gibson, Dustin Crumbley, Lauren Standifer (Scott), Drew Cate, Brice Gibson, Kolten Gibson, Kyndall Gibson, Devin Gibson, Cheyenne Gibson, Amy Gibson; two great-grandchildren: Nora Hall and Ezra Hall. In addition to these, he leaves behind several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Saturday October 25, 2014 at Ridgeview Baptist Church located at 1501 S Ocoee SE, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Rev. Luther Eslinger officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the church on Saturday prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Scott Standifer, Kolten Gibson, Brice Gibson, Dustin Crumbley, Devin Gibson, Drew Cate, Josh Hall, and Jason McIntyre will serve as pallbearers.
