Robert C. “Bob” Duggan, Jr, 87, a native of Charleston, TN passed away at 3:45 pm, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Indiana surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Charleston, Tennessee to the late Robert C. and Chloe (Liner) Duggan. He married the love of his life, Velma Jean (Taylor) Duggan on August 16, 1947. She survives.
He retired from the Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. He was a United States Army World War II veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant with Company A, 311th Infantry from 1944-1946. He received the Good Conduct Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany). Bob served after the war as a guard at the Nuremberg prison during The Nuremberg trials. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening; fishing and landscaping with his brother Ed. Bob loved his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories, three sons, Joe (Linda), Marion; Thomas (Margo), Fairmount and Dennis (Nancy), Columbia City; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special sister-n-law, Myrtle Duggan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vera (LD) White and Ozelle (Walter) Shipe; seven brothers, Clarence, Grady, Woodrow, Herman, Melvin, Edward and Charles (Dee); grandsons, Nicholas and Garrett Duggan.
A funeral service is planned for Friday February 7th, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel located at 1321 N. Baldwin Avenue in Marion Indian with the Reverend Terry Bishir and the Reverend Berry Earley officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be directed to Ball Memorial Hospice or the Marion VA, 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, IN in Bob's memory.
