Robbie Dean Wilson Ware

September 18, 1926 — February 28, 2022

Robbie Dean Wilson Ware, 95, of Georgetown, TN passed away on February 28, 2022. She was born September 18, 1926, to the late John Lee Wilson and Fannie Lee Lawson Wilson of Cleveland, TN. The family later moved to Georgetown where she grew up and went to school.

She and her late husband, Harry Ware, were married for 65 years and lived in the community of Brittsville in Georgetown. She was very active in the Brittsville Baptist Church where she became a Christian at the age of eleven and was baptized. She taught Children Sunday School classes for many years and always worked in Vacation Bible School. She was also the Church Clerk for several years. She played the guitar and sang in church. She was the oldest living member of the church.

Robbie was not only active in her church, but also in the surrounding communities in Meigs County. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Birchwood, TN, until it closed. There she was Past Worthy Matron and also held five stations. She was a News Correspondent for the Meigs County Statesman in the 1980’s for the First District in Decatur, TN. The news covered the communities of Eastview, Brittsville, Georgetown, and Birchwood.

Robbie started drawing at an early age but took up oil painting in the 1970s. She became a well known artist in the Meigs County area. She had an art studio named Hiwassee Gallery on Highway 58 where she painted and sold her art work, and gave oil painting lessons. Many people brought pictures of their old home place for her to paint for them. She was the 1985-86 Treasurer for the Meigs County Citizens for Arts and Crafts, and a member of the Tennessee Artists Association and the Cleveland Artists Association.

Her largest accomplishment as an artist was the mural she painted for the baptistery at Brittsville Baptist Church in 2007-2008 when she was 80 years old. A new sanctuary was being built and the carpenters built a platform for her to stand on. The size of the mural was 18ft length by 6ft height. It took her 82 hours to paint. The first mural she painted was for Brittsville Baptist Church baptistery in the 1960s in the previous sanctuary. She had also painted murals for Gum Springs Baptist Church and Burdette Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ware; her parents; John Lee and Fannie Lee Wilson; brothers: Arvil Wilson, Robert Taylor Wilson, Willie (Bill) Wilson; sisters: Mary Ruth Wilson and Betty Louise Cavett.
