Richard Doug "Sarge" Wagner

January 23, 1954 — February 1, 2022

Richard “Sarge” Douglas Wagner, 68, of Cleveland, TN, departed this life on February 1st 2022. Born January 23, 1954 , Doug was a quiet man who loved being outdoors. He loved being in the mountains whenever he could get away. He loved camping, hunting and fishing. Doug shared this love with his children when they were growing up and with his grandson’s when they were old enough to walk. He loved to work in the yard and had a small mowing business that he shared with his son. Doug loved to watch Westerns, especially Gunsmoke and he would never turn down chicken nuggets, a chocolate shake or a side of bacon. Doug was a welder by trade. He worked for Raytheon in Bristol, TN and Wichita, KS for 20+ years before moving to Cleveland, TN in 2000. Doug welded for several companies over the last 20 years in Cleveland, including CMC, EMT and Quality to name a few. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Angela, together for 33+ years and his children; daughter Naomi and husband Chris Stinson, daughter, Mallory Cross and by his son, Matthew and wife Kayla Wagner, who will miss him terribly. His grandson’s will miss him big! Anthony Garcia, Nikko Stinson, Thomas Cross and Hayden Grant. Doug leaves behind three sisters that will miss him greatly; Linda Carrier, Yvonne Smith and Sharon Burnette and their respective families. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves many friends behind that will cherish their memories of his friendship and love. Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents; Tom & Mary Harr and Grover & Celestal Wagner, by his parents William J. & Mary (Harr) Wagner, by his brother William J. Wagner Jr, by his grandson Kai Stinson and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Gathering of Friends and family will be held from 4 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home.
