Rebecca Jane Walding Phillips

June 30, 1959 — August 10, 2023

Rebecca Jane Walding Phillips beloved wife, mother and BeBe died on August 10th, 2023, of complications following respiratory arrest. She was surrounded by her loving husband and children. She had a beautiful and cheerful smile, incredibly huge heart, and loving soul. She adored her family and loved their annual beach trips. Christmas was her favorite season, and her big, ornate trees could be seen from miles away. She was born on June 30th, 1959 in Columbus, GA where she graduated from Hardaway High School and obtained her nursing degree from Columbus College School of Nursing. She was working at the Medical Center in Columbus when she met a brash young intern – everyone called him Spike, but she could call him Dr. Phillips. They had a whirlwind romance, married a year later, and moved to Orlando, Florida for Spike to complete his training.

After residency, they moved to Gaffney, SC to start an orthopedic practice and Becca left full-time nursing to become a full-time mom. She was active at First Baptist Church Gaffney. As the family grew (5 kids in all!), they decided to move to Spartanburg where the kids were attending Spartanburg Day School. She was first in line to volunteer for field trips, room mom, after-sports snacks, or anything else needed. She rarely missed her kids’ athletic events or performances. Many of her children’s friends considered Beechwood Drive their second home. She found her next life’s calling as BeBe, doting on her grandchildren, Reagan and McGuire. She was tragically taken from us much too soon, but we rejoice with confidence that she will be reunited with her mother (Mary Frances) and father (Buddy) along with her Father-In-Law (Rod) and brother-in-law (Jeff) in Heaven. She is survived by husband Frank “Spike” Phillips, children Courtney (Chris), Lauren (Derrik), Morgan, Ford, Tucker (fiancé Sam), and granddaughters Reagan and McGuire. She is also survived by sisters Pam (Rickey) and Donna (Bob), stepfather David, brother-in-law Chip (Chantal), and mother-in-law Genny as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
