Obituary
Randy Young Brown, 57, a resident of Maryville, TN passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in a Chattanooga Health care facility. Randy was born November 27, 1954 in Chattanooga, TN a son of the late Kenneth Donald and Judith Ann Brown. He was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga, TN and earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Randy was a native of Chattanooga, but had made Maryville, TN his home for the past 17 years. He was the executive director of the Chattanooga Nature Center, and the first director of the Foothills Land Conservancy in Maryville. He was also the leader in many East Tennessee Conservation projects leading to over 15,000 acres of Tennessee Wildlife Management and other conservation areas. Randy spent 5 years in Wyoming as a fundraiser for the Nature Conservancy. He was also active in the development of the Chattanooga Aquarium and exhibits. Randy was an amateur pilot and an avid outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed hiking and fly fishing. Lastly, Randy was the leader in many educational nature trips.
In addition to his parent, he is preceded in death by his grandmother and guardian Daisy Kirby.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory one sister and husband Kimberly and Frank Womack of Macungie, PA, one brother Jeff Brown of Georgetown, TN, two aunts Betty Randolph of Chattanooga, TN and Nancy Fox of Dunwoody, TN, nieces Rachel and Emily Womack, and a host of other extended family members and friends.
Per Randy’s request there will be no public visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Chattanooga Nature Center, Foothills Land Conservancy, or the Chattanooga Aquarium.
