Ralph Wayne Whitener, 60, passed away on April 23, 2022 from blunt force injuries sustained at his home on 5015 Gamble Road in Meigs County, TN. He was found on Monday, December 20, 2021. He remained unresponsive until his passing. Wayne was a kind and loyal friend to all who knew him. He loved the mountains and the beauty of nature and like his grandfather, William Edward Whitener, he too thought of himself as a mountain man. He enjoyed taking care of his many chickens and dogs.
He is preceded in death by his son, Nathan Whitener; paternal grandparents, William Edward Whitener and Bana Holt Whitener; uncles R.E. Whitener, Dan Whitener, and David Whitener; cousins Kathy Whitener Johnson, Jason Wolfe, and Adam Whitener; maternal grandparents C.H. Harrell and Mabel Harrell; aunt Freda Browning; and cousin Roger Browning.
He is survived by his father Ralph Charles Whitener; Mother Judy Harrell; brothers Randy and Tracy Whitener of Ooltewah; daughter Chrissy Whitener of Dalton, GA; sister Tammy Reynolds of Virginia; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Wayne will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service for Wayne will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Ooltewah Cemetery.
