Obituary
Raiford (Ray) Carter, age 81, of Athens passed away Friday, August 15. Born May 13, 1933 in Moultrie, GA. Preceded in death by Charlie and Mamie Garrette Carter, brothers Jesse Carter, Gene Carter, and sister Hazel Cooper. A military veteran having served during the Korean war. Known as the "mater" man selling produce from his little white truck in the Madisonville/Athens area. Surviving is wife Maudine Carter, daughter Patricia Clay and husband Jim of Armuchee, GA, son Bobby Ray Carter of Sarasota, FL, daughter Barbara Boruff and husband Dale of Athens, daughter Rebecca Gail Peterson of Sweetwater, daughter Shelia Weir and husband David of Athens, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service time.
