Philip Reed Perry, 69, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, following a brief illness.
Phil was a long-time resident of Nashville, TN, where he was an active member of the professional acting community for over 30 years. He discovered his love of acting in high school and theatre remained a lifelong passion. He was among the founding members of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival and often performed at the Nashville Children's Theatre, Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theater, and many other venues. More recently he worked with Clinical Skills USA, where he taught men's wellness exams to students in the medical field, work he found deeply meaningful.
Wherever he was, Phil loved his coworkers and fellow cast members. He valued family and friends above all else and cherished his relationships. He was dearly loved in return; all those who knew Phil knew him as thoughtful, compassionate, kind, loyal, and unfailingly supportive.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Mildred Perry; sisters Harriet Weger and Donna Straley; nephew Brett Weger, and niece Becky Straley. He is survived by his sister Janet Slinkard; nieces and nephews Larry (Linda) Gamble, Melanie (Chuck) Palmer, Brian (Tina) Gamble, Kirk (Maureen) Weger, Michelle Weger Harris, and Bruce Straley. "Uncle Phil" will also be missed by many beloved great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind his loving wife and companion of almost 30 years, Lee Ann Dixon; his "bonus kids" Alex (Casey) Mizell, Adrian Mizell (Stephanie Davis), Kelly Waller (Patrick O'Brian) and the "bonus grands" Hayden, Madison, and Sage Ludin. He will also be dearly missed by innumerable friends and coworkers but especially by his best friend of over 50 years, Lane Wright.
A memorial service is being planned for June 14, 2025; time and venue will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers or donations please consider attending a local theatre performance in your area.
